Mr Glynn Usher has been appointed as Sacristan, Archivist & Librarian at the Shrine. Glynn is currently Head Verger & Sub-Sacrist of Bristol Cathedral where he has served for the past 15 years.
Glynn has been a pilgrim to Walsingham for many years and in 2009 organised the Deans’ Vergers’ Conference at the Shrine. He will take over the role of Sacristan from Marc Thurlow who successfully applied for the new post of Night Porter at the Shrine.
Commenting on his appointment, Glynn said “I am thrilled to be joining the Shrine community, working at the Shrine is a dream come true for me. Walsingham is a place very close to my heart. I’m looking forward to being able to welcome pilgrim priests and people, and helping to ensure their time here with Our Blessed Mother is joyful and blest. Thank you, Fr Kevin, for your trust and warm welcome.”
The Priest Administrator of the Shrine, Fr Kevin Smith said: “I am delighted that Glynn is coming to Walsingham. He will bring many gifts and much experience to this important role. I am sure he will enjoy working with the team here and meeting the many pilgrims who come to this holy place”.
Glynn will be moving to Walsingham during the summer and take up his duties in September.
