Visiting the Shrine
We are delighted to announce that the Shrine Church and our beautiful Shrine Gardens will re-opening in July. The church will open for private prayer and a one-way system and social distancing guidance have been put in place to protect visitors throughout the Shrine. Entrance to the Shrine site will be through the Church entrance, at the junction of Holt Road and Knight Street.
The Holy House will also be open, but only for one person or one family at a time – please be aware that there may be queues at busy periods and we would advise those using this place of prayer to be aware of other pilgrims.
Within the Shrine Gardens, The Guild of All Souls’ Chapel will also be open for private prayer, limited to two people at a time.
Norton’s Café Bar is open every day from 10 am – 3.30 pm in July and 10 am – 3 pm from Tuesday to Sunday through August.
In Common Place, our much-loved Shrine Shop is open from Wednesday to Saturday (11 am – 2 pm), with a one-way system in place. Customers should be aware that they should not handle products they do not wish to purchase, and carrier bags will be provided at the entrance for customers to use on the premises.
Our tranquil gardens are the perfect place to pause and unwind, to pray and reflect, as lockdown continues to ease. Walsingham is surrounded by countryside and walks and a great deal of medieval architecture. Our nationally important site is situated within easy access to the coast, as well as other major tourist attractions – the perfect day out.
Staff will be available on site to welcome you, to assist with any queries or to provide directions around the site. We look forward to greeting you and sharing this holy place with you and your families.
Recent changes to the Government’s guidelines affecting our services are being reviewed and an update will be issued shortly concerning our plans for pilgrims and visitors.
