The National Pilgrimage 2019

The National Pilgrimage was held on Monday 27th May and entitled “Mary said: ‘Do whatever He tells you'”.

The event began on Sunday Evening with Compline and Exposition of The Blessed Sacrament followed by an all night vigil concluding with Benediction on Monday morning.

The Principal Celebrant at the Concelebrated Mass in the Abbey Grounds was the Rt Revd Philip North CMP, Bishop of Burnley and Master of the College of Guardians and the afternoon Sermon was given by The Most Rev & Rt Hon Justin Welby, Archbishop of Canterbury.

Following the Sermon and Procession through the village, Benediction was given by The Rt Revd Tony Robinson, Bishop of Wakefield and Visitor to the Shrine.

During lunchtime there was an Activity Carousel for children and young people while Ministries of Healing were available in the Shrine Church.

Their was a special welcome for members of the West Yorkshire Police Band, on their first visit to Walsingham, who entertained during the lunch break and played again outside the Bull in the Common Place following Benediction.

The Pilgrimage concluded with Solemn Vespers in the Shrine Church.
