VOLUNTEERING AT THE SHRINE

We encourage any person who lives locally and wishes to support the ethos of the Shrine to spare an amount of time on a regular basis to help us.

We welcome enquiries from people who would like to offer their time and expertise to the Shrine.  We have a variety of volunteering opportunities available and we will work with you to find the best use for your skills and enthusiasm to help us provide the best visit possible for our pilgrims and visitors.

Currently we have a small team of Welcome Centre Stewards who provide an essential meet and greet service to visitors and tourists coming to the Shrine.  Each day a volunteer steward (if available) welcome's visitors', answers any questions, guides them around the buildings and grounds, and assist at the daily service of Sprinkling

We gain from your skills and contribution and we hope you will enjoy getting to know the Shrine and becoming a valuable part of our service to visitors and pilgrims. Currently we welcome volunteers in the following areas:

  • Welcoming
  • The Housekeeping Department
  • Refectory
  • Norton’s Cafe-Bar
  • The Gardens

At busier times we may ask you to help in different departments.  Full training will be given for any tasks you are asked to undertake, and our friendly staff are always there to ask for guidance.
