The Refectory

The Refectory - a place where pilgrims meet

The main Pilgrim Refectory is one of the most important buildings at the Shrine. It is the meeting place of pilgrims and where friendships are renewed and great food is consumed.

It is built on two levels: the upper level is where the residents dine and accommodates 180 diners at one time and Norton’s Café Bar, open to all, is on the lower level.

Refectory Dining Room

Meals are served everyday during the Pilgrimage season and we pride ourselves in producing quality food from local producers where possible. We serve hot meals of the day and as an alternative you can choose from our salad bar where we have a variety of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes.

Wine by the glass or bottle can be purchased from the servery.

Staff are on hand to assist with carrying trays and helping where required.

Dietary Requirements

Special diets are catered for and all kitchen staff are trained in food hygiene and the new allergen regulations. The refectory holds the local authority 5 star food hygiene rating for cleanliness and procedures.

It is helpful if you inform us of any special dietary requirements prior to your stay.

Breakfast is served from 8.00 - 9.15 am; Lunch from 12.30 - 1.00 pm; Supper from 6.30 - 7.15 pm.
