Announcement of new Chief Operating Officer (COO)
The Shrine is pleased to announce the appointment of Stuart Quick as the new Chief Operating Officer (COO). This is a new appointment which replaces the post of Director of Finance. This newly envisaged post gives us an opportunity to continue the work of ensuring we build long-term sustainability and enabling the mission of the Shrine to continue to grow.
Stuart will take up his post in mid-September and joins the Shrine from North Norfolk District Council, where he has held a senior leadership role with responsibility for business growth, commercial development, the visitor economy, investment and strategic partnerships. He also has a substantial background in financial services and brings experience of governance within the charitable sector. Throughout his career he has worked extensively with businesses, public bodies and partner organisations to develop new opportunities, secure investment and support sustainable growth.
Commenting on the appointment, Fr Ben Eadon, the Priest Administrator, said, “I’m delighted to welcome Stuart to the Shrine team. He comes to us with much valuable experience and expertise which will help the Shrine to flourish and for us to live out our mission of promoting pilgrimage and devotion to Our Lady with confidence.”
Stuart said of his appointment, “I am delighted to be joining the Shrine at such an important point in its life. Walsingham is a very special place, with an extraordinary history and a mission that reaches far beyond Norfolk. I am particularly looking forward to working with Fr Ben, the Guardians and the wider Shrine team to build on its many strengths, develop new opportunities and help ensure that the Shrine is on a strong and sustainable footing for the future, so that it can continue to welcome and serve pilgrims and visitors for generations to come.”
