The U.S. friends of Our Lady of Walsingham

The aim of this organisation is to enable tax-efficient donations and legacies to be made by Christians in the USA to the Anglican Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham.

In 1931 Fr Patten translated the image of Our Lady of Walsingham from the parish church of Little Walsingham to the newly-built Shrine Church and Holy House. In that very same year, with Fr Patten's support, the National Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham was set up in Grace Church, Sheboygan, Wisconsin. It is remarkable that friendship has existed between the Shrine and many Episcopal Christians for so many years.

It was to build on this friendship that the Priest Administrator of the Shrine visited the United States in October, 2003. As well as preaching at Regional Walsingham Festivals in four east coast cities, he announced the launch of a new group, the US Friends of The Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham.

The aim of this organisation was to make it easier for US Christians to keep in touch with the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham in England. After a recent hiatus the US Friends has recently been re-established (US Friends of Our Lady of Walsingham, Inc (US Fed. ID. #82-2832768) as a non-profit corporation.

The US Friends is a charitable, religious corporation for promoting and educating the US public in regard to the work and the support of the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham, Norfolk, UK. The corporation is limited to charitable and religious purposes, and intends to be treated as exempt from income taxes of the USA under section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

A US Friends website is currently under construction. In the interim, further information is available from The Revd Jeffrey Queen (President of the Board of Directors – US Friends of Our Lady of Walsingham) email: fr.jeff@standrewsfortthomas.org
